The proposed Site for the Rocky Hill Coal Project covers an area of approximately 830ha, outside the Hunter Region town of Gloucester, north of Newcastle.

The Site comprises two main components

  • the Mine Area
  • a private haul road linking the Mine Area and the neighbouring Yancoal owned Stratford Mining Complex, the coal will be processed at the existing facilities before being transported to the Port of Newcastle by rail.

Access to the Mine Area will be off The Bucketts Way. Turn into Jacks Road, travel along Waukivory Road, then enter via McKinleys Lane.

Land within the Mine Area is either owned by GRL or under an option to purchase. Land along the private haul road route is owned by GRL or Yancoal Australia. The initial Project design was determined after extensive exploration, mine planning and environmental baseline and constraints studies so as to minimise impact, with refinements progressively introduced to reflect the outcomes of detailed impact assessment investigations. The agreement between GRL and Yancoal Australia has enabled additional refinements to the Project to further minimise impacts.
